After a successful first edition in March at SBIC Noordwijk, Tech Needs Discovery is back on 15 May 2025, bringing fresh momentum and a new twist. Organised by the ESA Technology Broker (powered by NL Space Campus and SBIC Noordwijk) in collaboration with Holland High Tech and Hi Delta, the event continues to connect space technologies with real-world industry needs.
In March, non-space companies from sectors such as agri-food, logistics, and photonics presented concrete technical challengesβfrom emission monitoring to fibre alignment and greenhouse automation. Space experts responded with fresh ideas, highlighting how space-grade solutions designed for extreme conditions can boost efficiency, reliability, and smart design across other industries.
That edition exceeded expectations: over 30 new introductions, more than 10 active follow-ups, and valuable conversations between unexpected matches. One speaker noted it “didn’t feel like a first-time event,” reinforcing the strength of the curated cross-sector format.
On 15 May, the approach will shift. This time, space companies will present their own technical challenges, inviting non-space innovators to offer potential solutions. The new format opens up further opportunities for collaboration and a chance for space companies to explore ideas and technologies from different sectors.
What to expect on 15 May
The second edition will again include guided matchmaking and relaxed networking moments. It is ideal for space companies looking beyond their usual networks, and for non-space industries interested in applying their solutions in new, high-performance contexts.
Looking ahead, a third edition is already being planned for September 2025, with a continued focus on industry challenges and non-space solutions.
Details about the presenting companies, registration, and participation will be shared soon via NL Space Campus and SBIC Noordwijk channels.
