Pieter Speijer is the new Community Manager at SBIC Noordwijk. His unique blend of experiences and dedication to community building make him a valuable addition to the campus and the space business community as a whole.
A Journey to SBIC Noordwijk
Pieter’s journey to becoming SBIC’s Community Manager is both fascinating and inspiring. “When I was event associate and confidant for the LDE NL Space Campus Summerschool in 2022, I was introduced to the industry and the campus here in Noordwijk,” he shares. This initial exposure was a stepping stone to greater adventures. Pieter fulfilled a lifelong dream by moving to New Zealand for a year and a half, where he worked as a Stargazing Tour Guide in the Aoraki/Mackenzie Dark Sky Reserve. His background in hospitality, coupled with these unique experiences, made him an ideal fit for the role at SBIC Noordwijk.
Excitement for the New Role
Pieter is eager to immerse himself in the space industry and connect with its community. “I really want to get to know the industry and the people within it. I feel like space is a very hot topic, and it is just great to be part of it,” he expresses with enthusiasm. His anticipation to learn and engage reflects the dynamic and ever-evolving nature of the space sector.
Connecting the Community
As the first point of contact for our community, Pieter is dedicated to facilitating interactions and fostering collaborations. He explains, “If you have any questions and/or problems and maybe someone within the community could help you, I will help and guide you in finding the right people and connect you to them.” Pieter aims to be a connecting factor for new members, startups, and partners, bringing a fresh perspective and a warm, hospitable approach.
Pieter will be in close contact with the entrepreneurs participating in ESA BIC Noordwijk and in the space business community at SBIC and NL Space Campus – as well as across the region through initiatives such as OneSpaceHub. Another key aspect of the role is to stimulate more interaction and engagement on location, with the aim of attracting new SBIC community members to Noordwijk.
